Assignments

Patrol
Patrol is the backbone of the organization. The (6) Patrol teams work 24/7/365 to provide service to the community.

Investigations
Investigations is staffed with (6) Detectives and (1) Sergeant. Investigations provides assistance in complex cases typically beyond the scope or time constraints of Patrol. They respond to investigate crimes day and night.

Traffic
The Traffic Unit has (3) Officers and (1) Sergeant. They enforce traffic laws, work special events, and respond to investigate major injury collisions.

School Resource Officer
We have (3) School Resource Officers (SRO's) assigned to the Middle and High Schools. These Officers work with school officials, parents, and youth in the community to make the schools safer. We also have (1) Campus Resource Officer assigned to Woodland Community College.

Homeless Outreach Street Team
The Homeless Outreach Street Team (HOST) team has (3) Officers assigned full time. They focus on reducing the impact of homelessness on our community. This is achieved through strong partnerships with businesses, allied agencies and stakeholders.

K9
We have (3) K-9's Loki, Bruno, and Ricky. These dogs are trained in the detection of narcotics, article searching, tracking and apprehension. Although the K-9's are primarily assigned to patrol, they regularly assist our SWAT team and outside agencies.

Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems
The sUAS team has (10) operators. They provide assistance on live scenes, during SWAT operations and other events. The team maintains FAA licensing standards.

Range Team
The Range Team team has (8) instructors. They provide department range training and ensure our Officers are meeting California POST standards.

Special Weapons and Tactics Team
The Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) has (10) members. The team is part of a regional asset known as the Yolo County Regional SWAT team.

Honor Guard
The Honor Guard attends formal events such as ceremonies, graduations, and funerals. Honor Guard is an auxiliary assignment.

Social Media Team
The Social Media Team is made up of many talented, creative individuals. The goal is to provide transparency into the Police Department, updates on safety issues, share information related to investigations, and connect with the community. This is an auxiliary assignment.

CNT
Our Crisis Negotiations (CNT) Team is made up of (8) members. Our CNT team responds to crisis incidents, with the primary objective of de-escalating high-intensity situations. CNT regularly works with neighboring agencies. This is an auxiliary assignment.

Field Training Officer
Field Training Officers (FTO's) provide essential training to our newly hired Officers. They are typically assigned to Patrol. FTO's work one on one with new Officers to develop them into a solo beat officer.

Bike Team
The bike team is an auxiliary assignment. Officers assigned to this team work special events, allowing them to respond in populated areas more rapidly.

Arrest and Control Team
The Arrest and Control Team provides newly hired Officers defensive tactics while reinforcing the laws of arrest. They provide continued training to our Officers which is key to our safety on the street.

Recruiting Team
Our Recruiting Team uses social media, text, phone calls and in person presentations to hire talented individuals. Recruit testing often helps us identify and sponsor individuals into a Police Academy.

Peer Support Team
The Peer Support Team is made up of sworn Officers and Professional staff. Peer support is relatively new in Law Enforcement. It is a key part of Officer wellness which is a focus at Woodland Police Department.

Special Services Detective
The Special Services Detective position is assigned to assist Investigations, Cannabis enforcement, extraditions, CCW permits issuing.
